Ship 2

Adventure

What's in a Name

Here is a look in to why we call ourselves Ship 2 Adventure"

Ship 2

We chose to use “2” as the unit number for several reasons. First, we will be the second Sea Scout in Bull Run District (BRD). Second, Ship Two allows for interesting word play (two, to, too, tutu) when promoting future program activities and adventures.

Next, it reflects the role of Sea Scouts as servant leaders that place the needs of others before themselves as stated in the Sea Scout Promise.

As scouts, we must listen to the words of our founder, Lord Baden-Powell when he admonished "One of the first duties of a Scout is obedience to authority. He must obey his orders in the first place and put his own amusement or desires in the second." (emphasis added)

Some of our reverent scouts are reminded, in Matthew 5:41 New King James Version, 41 "And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two." (emphasis added)

Most important to our Skipper, "I want the reminder of a core belief in my faith: redemption through grace while we await the 2nd coming of Jesus."

Adventure

Adventure is what we do. Adventure is who we are. Additionally, we steal this name "Adventure" from several (in)famous ships that were named the same. Here is a short list:
